New forklift series focuses on application-specific performance and productivity

Introduction of innovative electric Linde forklifts with lifting capacity of up to 2.0 tons

With a total of 26 new three- and four-wheel models with lifting capacities from 1.0 to 2.0 tons, Linde Material Handling (MH) is replacing its previous range of electric forklifts and setting the course for the future. The goal of the new trucks: significantly improved ergonomics and a noticeable increase in performance. This is ensured not least by the models with integrated lithium-ion battery.

Wide choice of models, high performance, excellent ease of use: the new Linde MH electric forklifts in the 1.0 to 2.0 tonne payload class are the first models with an integrated lithium-ion battery.

Three- and four-wheel electric forklifts with a lifting capacity of up to two tons constitute the largest market segment of all industrial forklift classes. They are just as irreplaceable in catering wholesalers, distribution centers and food production, as they are in the building materials trade, metalworking and chemical production or in the paper and woodworking industries. Their scope of application extends from a few transport tasks a day to demanding operations in multiple shifts with loads permanently at the maximum capacity limit. In other applications, the trucks have little maneuvering room or are exposed to challenging environmental conditions such as heat, cold, dust or dirt.

The new electric forklifts are available in an unprecedented variety of models to meet customers' most diverse requirements: from 1.0 to 2.0 tons lift capacity, three-wheel and four-wheel trucks with integrated lithium-ion or lead-acid battery. They all offer customization, maximum performance if required and an ergonomic workplace. "Linde MH once again sets the standard in this important forklift segment. Thanks to new technologies and optimized truck design, our customers' requirements for powerful, energy-efficient, comfortable and safe trucks are even better met," said Torsten Rochelmeyer, Senior Director Strategy & Solution Portfolio at Linde Material Handling, at the product launch.

Two different variants: Linde Xi and Linde E

A total of 12 new Linde Xi models in the lift capacity group from 1.0 to 2.0 tons with integrated lithium-ion battery ensure maximum performance and an expanded range of applications. Another 14 variants take the hitherto standard Linde E14 to E20 electric forklifts with lifting capacities from 1.4 to 2.0 tons and a lead-acid battery to a new technological pinnacle. Operators can switch between lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries or continue to use existing batteries according to the "plug and play" principle. The electric models are also designed to use fuel cells.

The right solution for every application: that's the promise of Linde MH's new electric forklifts with capacities from 1.0 to 2.0 tons.

Performance in a nutshell

The combination of the integrated 90-volt lithium-ion battery and the SRM electric motor creates a significant efficiency boost in the daily operation of the Linde Xi10 to Xi20 models. The truck accelerates to a top speed of 20 mph in a short time. In addition, they enable lifting and lowering speeds that are up to 20 percent above the average of competing trucks. A suitable thermal management system ensures that full engine power can be utilized at all times, even under high loads and continuous operation. "In terms of performance, the new trucks set the bar significantly higher - even compared to the competition," Torsten Rochelmeyer emphasizes. For the Linde E14 to E20 models, Linde MH relies on proven 48-volt lithium-ion battery technology and maintenance-free AC electric motors, which also achieve a high level of performance.

The driver at one: ease of use creates an attractive workplace.

"Vacancies in logistics and warehousing are increasingly difficult to fill," says Portfolio Manager Rochelmeyer, describing the worsening personnel shortage in this field. "Linde's new electric forklifts therefore play perfectly into the hands of HR managers in the battle for labor. The spacious workplace lives up to its promise: everything has been done in its development to meet the needs of forklift operators and support them in their work as best as possible." This is particularly evident with the Linde Xi10 - Xi20. With the integrated lithium-ion battery, the designers have created additional flexibility. The step is significantly larger and lower. The footwell is about 30 percent larger than usual in this truck class and offers more room to move. All electric forklift versions also have more headroom. Torsten Rochelmeyer speaks of a real space wonder: "Even very tall drivers feel comfortable and can work in a relaxed manner." The new heating system is a unique selling point in the industry. Adjustable vents positioned around the driver's workplace and a 60 percent improvement in heat output compared to previous models provide a truly comfortable climate in the cab, even in very low outside temperatures. However, if it is very hot outside, the trucks can be equipped with an optional air conditioning system. The integration into the protective roof is an industry first. The damping and decoupling concepts on the axles and lift mast are another important comfort factor. They effectively reduce shocks and vibrations, reducing physical strain and keeping the operator healthy. At the same time, they prevent premature fatigue. The standard 3.5-inch display and the optional 7-inch display are reminiscent of current automotive interior standards. This provides the driver with a wide range of information. The list of optional extras includes yet another unique selling point in the industry: Linde Steer Control. The classic steering wheel can be replaced by a mini steering wheel or a joystick. The driver's left arm rests on a handrail and he controls the truck using only his fingers and minimal movements, reducing the strain on him.

Workplace safety is top priority

Safety is also a top priority. A growing number of standard or optional forklift features ensure a high level of protection for both the operator and his working environment. Linde Load Assist, an auxiliary system that automatically adjusts lift and tilt functions according to load weight and lift height to prevent rollover accidents, is standard equipment. If the truck is equipped with a cab, the electronic belt monitoring system can be combined with door monitoring. Using software configuration, the service engineer can set whether the belt must be worn despite the door being closed or whether it is sufficient if the driver has closed the door or fastened the belt. The Linde Reverse Assist Radar is the latest safety assistance available only from Linde. It recognizes both moving and stationary objects behind the truck and brakes the truck to a stop very quickly in the event of danger. Last but not least, the AI-based Linde Reverse Assist Camera and Front Assist Camera contribute to the goal of accident-free logistics. Camera systems integrated into the truck's 7² display can distinguish people from objects and actively intervene in the event of danger by reducing the truck's speed.

The key to even greater efficiency

Digitization and end-to-end connectivity further contribute to increased productivity. Wireless data transfer between the control system and applications in the cloud on a server with data protection, enables predictive maintenance and software updates over the airwaves. Integration of forklifts into digital process chains with warehouse management and truck control systems promises further increases in efficiency.
