New Managing Director at Volvo Trucks Netherlands

After working within Volvo Group for more than 37 years, the last 12 of which as Managing Director of Volvo Trucks Netherlands, Wabe van Solkema will retire on Oct. 1, 2024. Roeland Ruygt will succeed him.

After a long and successful tenure as Managing Director for Volvo Trucks Netherlands, Wabe van Solkema retired as of Oct. 1. As of the same date, Roeland Ruygt assumed the position of Managing Director Netherlands. 

Wabe has contributed greatly to the success of Volvo Trucks. For more than 37 years he has worked at the Volvo Group, of which almost 12 years in his current role as Managing Director. He has handed over a strong organization that, together with its professional dealer network, is at the forefront of customer focus, sustainability and innovation.

Roeland Ruygt joined Volvo Trucks in 2000 and has held various positions within the Volvo organization. From 2017 to 2022 he was director Volvo Trucks vehicle sales at Volvo Trucks Netherlands and since then he has been general manager of Volvo Group Truck Center (VGTC). Roeland has a solid track record of building close-knit teams and a customer-focused culture, with a focus on sustainability.

"The current transition to sustainable alternatives is making transportation companies' choice of vehicle type and specification increasingly complicated. Should they go for an alternative that is already available, wait for an even more sustainable powertrain or still go for an efficient diesel engine now? Within VGTC we are close to the market and the focus is on being able to support customers even better in their investments for a sustainable future, while maintaining their profitability. I will take that experience into my new role within the Volvo Group," explains Roeland Ruygt.
