Johan van der Meulen (team leader technical services) and Sytze Huizenga (commercial technical advisor) tell more about the power of good products for, among others, logistic environments, with in particular the high-quality coatings of the Nylo brand. 

Nelfkoopmans is originally a true family business with more than 220 years of expertise in the paint industry. "We stand for sustainability and innovation," says Huizenga. "We therefore offer a range from regular paint products to highly specialized problem solvers. We think solution-oriented and help our customers with inspections, appropriate advice and project support."

The emphasis on sustainability

Sustainability is in NelfKoopmans' DNA. Van der Meulen explains: "In everything we do, we continuously strive for sustainability. In products and relationships. We have CO2-neutral production thanks to our own windmill and a roof full of solar panels. We buy raw materials as locally as possible to minimize the environmental impact of transport." 

"As a socially engaged manufacturer, we are increasingly committed to sustainable business practices by using as many renewable raw materials as possible. Take our NYLO range, for example. These products are mainly solution-free or water-based. Moreover, our modern factory is located in one of the most beautiful Unesco areas in the Netherlands: the Wadden area. So we are reminded daily how important it is to take good care of our planet." 

The story of NYLO

NelfKoopmans has eight great brands in its corporate portfolio, one of which is NYLO coatings. "We all come into contact with floor or wall coatings every day, without realizing it. This is because a good wall coating is critical in a variety of conditions and degrees of stress in both residential and commercial spaces. The requirements vary with each application," Van der Meulen said.  

NYLO products emerged in the 1970s from an ever-increasing demand from the dairy industry for high-strength, easy-to-clean coatings. Koopmans developed a solvent-free epoxy coating that meets all requirements and is completely safe for milk and cheese products. The solution is still used worldwide in the cheese industry. "NYLO offers many possibilities," says Huizenga. "Also for applications according to HACCP standards." 

At the end of the 1990s NYLO came under the banner of Nelf Lakfabrieken. The NYLO range has since been further expanded into a broad problem solver for the food industry, the health industry, wet areas (swimming pools), heavy-duty anti-slip and industrial environments. 

NYLO offers a full range of products for wall and floor finishes both indoors and outdoors. In addition, there are products for anti-slip or wear-resistant finishes as well as highly cleanable or durable aesthetic finishes. In all possible industries and application areas, NYLO has a suitable and often certified solution in house. Huizenga: "It can be difficult to make the right choice within the enormous range. That is why the Technical Advisory Service is available five days a week to provide customers with appropriate advice."

Floor and wall coating

Specifically for logistics or industrial environments, NYLO Floorcoat SL and NYLO Floorcoat RC are ideally suited. Huizenga: "The Floorcoat SL is a strong epoxy coating for industrial applications. The coating is applicable to concrete or cement-bound screeds with heavy loads. Perfect for example in areas for storage or workshops, garages and production areas. The coating is waterproof and liquid-proof and easy to pour or chip."

"The Floorcoat RC is a strong epoxy roller coating suitable for finishing concrete or cementitious screeds with medium loads. The roller coating is solvent-free and easy to roll. Also highly resistant to chemicals, virtually all chemical cleaners, oils and solvents."
