"Right now we are performing a delicate operation for a large supermarket," says Paul Verschuren, account manager Wholesale & Logistics. Coolworld Rentals is an international refrigeration and heating equipment rental organization that offers flexible solutions for temporary capacity problems. "We have been working with them since the establishment of this supermarket. As soon as they need temporary refrigeration, we are on standby," Verschuren says with some pride.
Verschuren "This supermarket operates in several countries. In Germany, they are currently building their very first distribution center that is fully automated. Once again they called in our expertise. This time for controlling the temperature in a test environment we set up. Since they sell products that need to be stored at a specific temperature, temperature control is crucial for them. In the test environment, the ideal conditions are perfectly simulated. The knowledge gained will immediately save time when they switch to their structural refrigeration when the site is completed."
Verschuren explains the delicate process: "Because this is a new building, the concrete is relatively damp and can still start to 'work'. That is why our installations slowly bring the temperature down from +15 degrees to the desired -22 degrees. We do this in increments of 5 degrees, after which we wait a few days. The concrete can then settle down, so to speak. If we don't do this, problems may arise later with the floor or walls. Once the site is operational, the final installation takes over our work." Until then, the supermarket receives on-site project support from three Coolworld mechanics. With backup from the Product development and sales department, these qualified specialists ensure that everything goes as agreed upon beforehand. Verschuren: "Our basic principle is to be flexible, without losing sight of quality."
In order to achieve the desired temperatures, Coolworld installed 12 airhandlers and three air-cooled chillers. These machines are energy-efficient, low-noise and plug-in. They are built in a robust frame, with protection of the condenser by an impact-resistant grid, easy to move by forklift or crane.
In case of emergencies, such as the failure of a cooling system or an acute lack of cooling capacity, Coolworld can be contacted 24/7. They provide a suitable solution as quickly as possible in the event of an emergency. Daily Fresh Food in Heerlen, for example, experienced this in practice. After a major fire, this company received sufficient temporary cooling units from Coolworld within 24 hours of the 'fire master' signal.
The need for temporary cooling units is not always caused by unpleasant events. "For example, we have a customer who grows organic, edible flowers, among other things. These became so popular in no time that temporary refrigeration was needed quickly. We helped them by installing a cold room that could store the flowers under the right conditions. And because they are used for salads, pies and desserts, it is done completely food-safe, in accordance with HACCP requirements."
Besides cold and freezer storage, they also provide solutions for process plants and climate control. Coolworld therefore has customers in many different industries. Verschuren: "We work for companies in storage and transshipment, logistics, retail and data centers, among others."
The company also supplies heating equipment through its Heatworld division. These include heat pumps, industrial boilers and flow-through heaters. Verschuren says: "Full service rental means more to us than just supplying the equipment. We ensure that the solutions offered seamlessly match the customer's needs, location and applications."
