More options for new logistics trains

Motrac comes with larger range of logistics trains

Motrac comes with specially tailored transport solutions, for both indoor and outdoor use: new frames for Linde logistics trains. With application-specific features, the frames are easy and safe for drivers to operate and protective for the goods being transported. These new frame modules fit perfectly with the Linde tractors and together form customized "Logistics Train solutions" for horizontal transport and make production processes even more effective and cost-effective.

Logistics trains have a permanent place in modern production environments. To deliver material to various points in the assembly, they transport large quantities of material from warehouses and across company sites over sometimes long distances. The trains consist of a tractor and several trailers and are most common in just-in-time or just-in-sequence production in the automotive or mechanical engineering industries. The load, usually on a trolley or rolling rack, is pushed and lifted into the frame of the trailer. Logistic trains reduce traffic within a plant and the risk of accidents, while ensuring plannable, reliable logistics processes. Bundled transports can be advantageous for routes longer than 160 meters.

The requirements vary, depending on the area of application. In warehouses, space is often tight, while tractors operating outdoors usually have to deal with uneven surfaces. "Therefore, in addition to our proven All-Rounder version, we have now expanded our range to include logistics train solutions designed for indoor or outdoor use," says Mal Rexhepi, Product Manager Logistic Train Solutions.

New trailer modules for different applications

The Linde LT06-M, LT10-M and LT10-W trailers are specially designed for indoor applications. These frame modules are usually used in conjunction with the trigger Linde P60 C and can be freely combined. M-frames are available with load capacities of 600 kg or 1,000 kg and are loaded from one side onto the ground. They are suitable for transports with predefined start and end points. In comparison, the W-frames with a 1,000 kg payload can be loaded and unloaded from both sides, making them more flexible. If routes are later changed or new stops are added, it does not matter on which side these stops are located. The centrally located two-wheeled axle gives the logistics train great maneuverability. An aisle width of 3.9 meters is sufficient, for example, for a tractor with four attached frames for Euro pallet trucks to make a U-turn. Added to this is the trailers' low dead weight; the simplest version weighs only 158 kilograms. This allows the train to reach higher travel speeds, which has a positive effect on driving characteristics.

The new logistics train, consisting of the Linde P250 tractor and the LT-Ch frame, is optimized for outdoor use. The frames have large super-elastic tires, two axles and four-wheel steering. Optional LT-BMh frames are available, allowing loading and unloading on both sides.

The LT16-Ch and LT16-BMh models, which are usually pulled by the Linde P250 tractor, on the other hand, are optimized for use in outdoor areas. They are equipped with super-elastic tires 368 mm in diameter and 115 mm wide, which absorb shocks and vibrations due to uneven ground. The robustly built frames have two axles for a load capacity of up to 1,600 kg, four-wheel steering for high maneuverability and directional stability, and a hydraulic lifting system for gentle lifting of trolleys. Two designs are available that can be freely combined: a C-frame (Ch) and a bridge frame with adjustable center support (BMh) that can be loaded on both sides. Numerous equipment options are available to make the logistics train extra robust and safe for outdoor use. For example, weather protection, options for improved visibility, mud flaps for the wheels and a mechanical emergency brake, which ensures safe operation on slopes.

The two new logistics train solutions complement the proven, powerful Linde LT10-C to LT16-BM series. In combination with the Linde P80 tractor offer their advantages as "all-rounders" for transports within and between halls.

Three frame versions are available for the trailers with a maximum payload of 2,000 kg: C-frames (LT-C), bridge frames that can be loaded and unloaded on both sides (LT-B) and bridge frames with integrated center supports (LT-BM).

High level of safety and performance on all models

Safe transport and loading is guaranteed on all Linde semi-trailer models as standard by the mechanical load locking system, which closes automatically after the trolleys are retracted. The lifting function of the frames is operated centrally from the driver's platform. When the driver steps into the tractor, the load is lifted automatically; when he or she steps out, the load is lowered. An automatic immobilizer prevents the train from starting when the trailers are lowered and disables the lowering function when the train is moving. An auxiliary system automatically controls the tractor's speed when cornering.

In combination with logistics trains, the Linde range offers numerous trolleys of different sizes, equipment and tires for a load capacity of 1,000 kg. They are suitable for transporting pallets and loading containers and can be equipped with modular racks for small load carriers. In addition, an optionally available guidance system helps drivers on complex routes with variable end points and guides them along the optimal route to individual stations.
