Access solutions combine efficiency, security and speed with minimal energy consumption
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems' access solutions ensure the smooth and safe flow of people and goods. Also in industry, where efficiency, safety and speed are paramount. DSV's cross-divisional campus in Venlo is a great new reference for this.
"ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is an international company, with international key accounts," says Project Manager Hans Bolder. "DSV is one such key account. From Scandinavia to Africa, we manufacture, supply, assemble and service industrial doors and loading and unloading solutions in the broadest sense of the word."
For the cross-divisional campus in Venlo, ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems supplies and assembles the access solutions for the industrial doors and docks. From overhead doors to dock levellers, dock shelters and dock equipment and for both the two-level warehouse and the cross-dock. "Thanks to our solutions, trucks, for example, can be loaded and unloaded efficiently, safely and quickly, while keeping unauthorized persons out."
"We delivered a total of 154 docking stations," Bolder says. "Each docking station on the cross-divisional campus consists of an exterior dock leveller with load house, dock shelter, automated access control system and an interior electric overhead door. A special feature of the so-called Dock-In system is that the dock doors are activated only when a truck docks at the respective loading dock. In addition, the door must be released using a badge. Furthermore, both the overhead doors and the dock doors are WK2 certified. Thanks to this 'multiple security', burglar resistance is guaranteed at all times."
In addition to the docking stations, the project for ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems includes seven ground level doors, where people can enter the building with large goods. "On the inside of the crossdock, we install four fire-resistant doors for the PGS-15 storage vault, as well as two insulated high-speed roll-up doors for the high care areas. Once a building section is completed, the access solutions are transferred to our service department, which provides full service and maintenance for at least the next five years."
DSV's load houses in Venlo feature transparent roofs, allowing plenty of daylight to enter. Thanks to the use of external dock levellers, there is a well-insulated outer shell, while the Dock-In system ensures that doors are not left open unnecessarily. "This allows for substantial energy savings and is in line with DSV's sustainability ambition," says Bolder. Before the end of this year, the entire project should be completed.
