Safety is of paramount importance in the world of logistics and warehousing. A major player in this field is Axelent, a company originally from Sweden that specializes in crash protection and other safety solutions. We spoke with Ruben Geenen, X-Protect specialist at Axelent, about a relatively new product innovation: crash protection.
One of the main distinguishing features of Axelent's X-protect collision protection is the modularity of their systems. Geenen emphasizes that Axelent's products are easily adaptable and expandable. "With us, you can put together different configurations using the same posts and components. This makes it easy not only to make adjustments, but also to replace components without much time or effort," he explains.
In addition to modularity, Axelent also focuses on durability and user-friendliness. The products are designed to cause minimal damage to floors, thanks to the use of polymer materials that absorb energy and minimize concrete damage. "Absorbing energy and preventing floor and concrete damage is a key added value of our products," says Geenen. This approach contributes not only to safety, but also to lower long-term maintenance costs.
Geenen talks about the robustness of Axelent's products and how easily parts can be replaced if damaged. "Look, anything can break. When you drive a forklift that's too heavy against a barrier that's too light, it breaks down. But it's important that when that happens, replacement can be done quickly and easily. Our systems are designed so that every part can be easily replaced without having to take the whole system apart," explains Geenen. "This minimizes downtime and increases operational efficiency."
Axelent continues to innovate to meet the changing needs of the market. One example is their system that makes it very easy to attach and detach different parts together. "It is praised for its simplicity and efficiency," Geenen said. This system is an important factor for customers who often face changing logistics requirements.
Axelent decided to start producing collision protection after noticing that many logistics companies were combining Axelent's mesh wall systems for security and separation with competitors' collision protection. Geenen explains: "We saw a clear need in the market. Our customers were using our mesh walls, but buying collision protection elsewhere. We wanted to offer a total solution, so we started developing our own collision protection."
Another major advantage of Axelent's collision protection is the flexibility in the use of the components. Interchangeability and modularity allow the components to be easily converted to other applications, such as a pedestrian barrier or a single bollard. "The components do not get damaged during customization, so they can easily be reused," Geenen emphasizes. This makes the system not only flexible, but also cost-effective, as companies do not have to purchase new parts each time.
Despite Axelent having been in business for more than 30 years, they are often seen as a new player in the market. This is because they operate primarily through dealers, making their brand name less visible. Still, Axelent has built a strong market position, thanks in part to their focus on quality and customer focus. "We often hear from customers that they highly appreciate our product because of its high quality and ease of installation and maintenance," Geenen said.
