2,000th Volvo truck for Schenk Tanktransport

Schenk Tanktransport has taken delivery of their 2,000th Volvo truck. As a first, the delivery of the Volvo FH Aero took place at the recently opened World of Volvo in Gothenburg, Sweden. A crowning achievement and a unique milestone in the cooperation between the two companies, which began in 1947. 

With the key handover from Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, Schenk took delivery of their 2,000th Volvo truck. "This key transfer is a historic episode for all of us. It is the 2,000th truck for Schenk, one of the first Volvo FH Aero trucks from series production and where the delivery took place for the first time in World of Volvo. We are very happy that we could share this special moment with the Schenk family," says Roeland Ruygt, Managing Director of Volvo Group Truck Center. 

Collaboration of over 77 years 

For more than 77 years, Volvo Trucks has supplied trucks to Schenk. The family business, which began trading sand and gravel in 1925, put its first Volvo into service in 1947 with the so-called "Rondneus. In the late 1950s, the first tank truck was finally purchased, laying the foundation for where the tank transport company stands today. Over the years it has had the various Volvo truck models in its fleet, including the N88 with the iconic Titan cab in the 1960s, followed by the F88, F10 and F12 and, from its introduction in 1993, the various generations of the Volvo FH.

In ten years, 1,000 Volvo trucks have been added to Schenk's fleet. "We look back fondly on this milestone in our wonderful relationship and cooperation," says co-owner Harry Schenk.

Safe, lightweight trucks for deployment on ADR

Transporting liquids and gases is a complex business. In addition to the widely varying temperature and environmental requirements, extreme care must be taken when loading, unloading and transporting. "Our company policy is to efficiently offer safe and high-quality services to our clients," says Harry Schenk. 

"The products Schenk transports therefore require highly dedicated transport equipment," adds Arjan Schenk. "Volvo Trucks has been supplying the right equipment since 1947, enabling us to conquer our position in the industry. The highly reliable trucks are distinguished by their low dead weight and the smooth I-Shift gearbox, which is particularly pleasant for transporting liquids. Our customers always demand top performance when it comes to safety. Our business stands or falls with that. Volvo trucks have extensive specification options and are suitable for a variety of deployments and most high-risk loads."

The Volvo FH Aero, now the 2,000th Volvo truck added to the fleet, is equipped with a Globetrotter cab and 13-liter Turbo Compound engine with 460 hp and 2,600 Nm of torque. Due to its deployment on ADR, the truck is equipped with exterior mirrors with blind spot camera on the passenger side. For optimal driver comfort, additional cab insulation, I-Park Cool and a premium top mattress, among other features, were chosen.

In line with previously delivered Volvo trucks, this 4×2 tractor is also equipped with extensive safety options. It complies with the new EU regulations around active safety systems (the General Safety Regulation, GSR), including intelligent speed assistance and a rear view camera to better see vulnerable road users.
