Element Logic has focused exclusively on providing AutoStore systems for decades. That their expertise is second to none is evidenced by their strong market leadership in Benelux and their customer base worldwide. "We handle half of all AutoStore installations in the Netherlands and Belgium."
Element Logic's origins lie in 1985, when brothers Dag-Adler and Kjell Blakseth founded Arkiv & Lager AS to build storage units. At the time, they used wooden crates and large binders, with software helping to locate items. In the 1990s, the focus shifted to dynamic storage solutions. In 1999, the brothers met the owners of Hatteland, the inventors of AutoStore, and a collaboration soon took shape. "Element Logic took responsibility for sales, engineering, installation and maintenance of the AutoStore systems, while Hatteland provided the equipment," says sales director Melle van den Berg.
"In 2000, we started developing our warehouse management system. Thanks to the acquisition of the German company S und P, we were also able to offer a complete WMS package with our AutoStore systems. In 2003, AutoStore was marketed as an independent unit. This was the start of a success story that is still going full speed ahead today. We are top of mind when companies are looking for an AutoStore partner. Another fact: one of the Blakseth brothers, by the way, is still our CEO today."
In the early years, Element Logic focused primarily on the parts industry, but the rise of e-commerce gave the company a huge boost. Their systems are ideal for efficient order picking and fast shipping. In addition, AutoStore systems have the advantage of operating with fewer personnel and making optimal use of available space. During expansions to existing AutoStore systems, Element Logic ensures that day-to-day operations can continue uninterrupted.
"We have a wealth of knowledge and experience in warehouse automation in-house for customers in a wide variety of sizes and industries. The top three are filled by fashion, pharma and beauty, and spare parts. With our AutoStore system, totes are put into systems that are brought to employees by robots. These no longer have to walk 20 km or more in a working day, which is an ergonomic bonus. They pick up where they are so the process can go on. That's a significant added value compared to a conventional environment. Other benefits of automation lie in reducing the error rate and optimizing customer satisfaction."
With more than 1,000 robots, 300 gates, and 1.2 million totes, Element Logic built the largest AutoStore system in the world for Boozt. This e-commerce player delivers about 400,000 fashion and lifestyle products each month in 24 European countries. Without an automated order processing system that works 24/7, this would be nearly impossible. Boozt can easily scale by adding more robots, bins and gates, especially during peak seasons such as Black Friday and Christmas. "We are excited to increase our commitment to automation and innovation in partnership with Element Logic and AutoStore," said Boozt chief supply chain officer Sven Thiessen.
