BlueStar, the leading global distributor of solution-based digital identification, mobility, point-of-sale and RFID technologies, chooses Exotec to automate its distribution centers in Europe and the United States. Through this partnership, BlueStar increases security, flexibility and efficiency in its warehouses.
In 2019, BlueStar opened its EMEA distribution center in Eindhoven. Since then, the company has experienced steady growth, thanks in part to its commitment to excellent service. To meet increasing demand and high customer expectations, the company decided to expand its infrastructure and further optimize business processes. BlueStar therefore engaged Exotec to implement the Skypod System in its warehouse.
The Skypod System is a goods-to-person solution that supports operators in picking orders. The system consists of 20 Skypod robots, racks with 23,000 totes, 3 picking stations and one bin interface.
Thanks to the Skypod robots, which are responsible for picking orders, the time needed to pick items has been significantly reduced. This results in as much as 60% less traffic in the warehouse, providing a safer environment for employees. In addition, employees benefit from improved ergonomics: where previously they had to manually remove products from shelves, often under strain from bending or reaching for height, they can now work at ergonomic picking stations where everything is presented at the same height.
"We are very pleased with the robust and smooth implementation of Exotec's system," said Manel Baranera, BlueStar's EMEA COO. "This investment has significantly improved our logistics capabilities, allowing us to efficiently process daily orders regardless of their volume or complexity."
Jan Heijblom, Senior Sales Executive at Exotec in the Netherlands, adds, "We are very proud to support BlueStar's optimized expansion while contributing to a safer workplace for its employees."
