For quality and safety you have to be at Wiersma Forklifts and Warehouse Equipment. Owner Jan Jaap Wiersma tells how the sales, service and rental organization has been thinking along with care and attention to increase safety in warehouses and work environments for more than 25 years.

In a quarter century, the organization transformed from a rental company to a broad-based organization. Jan Jaap: "We supply products and services that improve quality and safety in warehouses. We also help with maintenance and equipment in and around the warehouse. So our customers have everything for a safe and efficient working environment at one address."

Appropriate solution

Whether customers are looking for machinery or a complete fit-out of a new warehouse, Wiersma's employees are happy to help think of a suitable solution. "We supply racking and mezzanine floors, for example. To strengthen our story, our specialists often make an autocad drawing. In this way, we work with customers toward the most optimal layout of the warehouse."

Preventive and proactive

"To avoid dangerous situations, we do a lot of preventive maintenance and inspections. In this we act proactively. We see in our system when customers are due for a forklift or racking inspection or checkup and then contact them for an appointment."

"We also solve problems. Do we get a call about a malfunction? Then we rush out to fix it. In most cases, the forklift runs again within 24 hours." To do this, the organization works closely with Yale's EMEA Parts Centre in Nijmegen. "If a mechanic orders a part before 5 p.m., it is delivered to his service van the same night."

Wiersma is an importer of the Yale brand, a global player in lift and warehouse trucks. Its products are made in Nijmegen, among other places. In addition to direct sales, the company also has a dealer network that helps customers in the region by selling and servicing machines.

Beautiful innovations

Wiersma is also a dealer of Mora: compact electric forklifts that can handle heavy loads. With lifting capacities of up to 25 tons, these machines are extremely suitable for working in tight spaces. Jan Jaap: "We can supply systems on all forklifts that ensure that the trucks automatically brake in a dangerous situation. There are also smart cameras with detection sensors: is ideal to prevent accidents."

Flexible services

Wiersma is known for its service. Jan Jaap: "Companies find it increasingly difficult to look into the future in these unpredictable times. It is then very nice when a party thinks along. Our flexible rental concept is an eye-opener for many new customers." Trucks returned after rental are completely overhauled. "This is very interesting for customers who only use a forklift truck on a limited basis. We always deliver with a new battery: the heart of the machine. That way a truck will last a long time again."

"The VCA-certified mechanics are our calling card." This focus on well-trained personnel is very important, according to Jan Jaap. "We make sure our employees get the support they need. We are always looking for new mechanics, and we offer employees a place with a good atmosphere and room to grow."
